The Good Guys Top CHOICE at 2010 Awards

Chairman of The Good Guys, Andrew Muir, is ecstatic that his nationwide team of Good Guys have taken the top gong at the inaugural CHOICE Awards 2010, winning the People’s Choice Award for Best Retailer, ahead of JB Hi Fi and Harvey Norman.

The prestigious award, which was announced on Monday at a ceremony in Sydney, saw members of the advocacy group CHOICE score a list of retailers on value for money, range, product knowledge and after-sales service.

The Good Guys, with 91 stores across Australia, took out the top Award.

Andrew Muir was thrilled with the win, saying it was a great reflection of the high standards of the industry and the important role it plays to consumers.

“Our industry has been blessed with products containing innovative technology and sharp industrial design. It does not escape us that all three finalists came from our sector. We know only too well the quality of the opposition which makes this moment for us all the more rewarding,” said Andrew.

“This award represents the hard work and determination of our entire organisation. It is a privilege to work with some of the best people in the industry, who consistently uphold the standards for which we have become known for. We pledge our commitment to keep up the good work.”

The news of the People’s CHOICE Award for Best Retailer follows the announcement on Sunday of the establishment of The Good Foundation and the first priority of the Foundation, Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia, in partnership with Jamie Oliver.

“The Good Guys has always been committed to doing “good” in the community. We offer more than low prices and friendly and knowledgeable customer service,” said Andrew.

“We provide support to a range of not-for-profit organisations, to improve the vitality of the communities in which we operate right across the country. Since 2007 we’ve donated over $2.7 million to charity,” he said.

“We are going to focus on health and nutrition. The growing list of health concerns related to poor eating habits affects all Australians. It is an issue for which we all need to take responsibility. The Good Foundation is putting up its hand,” he said.
